Structural requirements for steel structure space frame joints

In the steel structure space frame, the nodes play the role of connecting the intersecting members and transferring the roof load and crane load. The space frame also belongs to the space bar system, and there are at least 6 bars and as many as 13 bars that converge on a node. This adds a certain degree of difficulty to node design. The space frame has a large number of nodes, and the amount of steel used for the nodes accounts for 1/5~1/4 of the steel used for the entire space frame members. Reasonable design of nodes has a direct relationship with the safety of the space frame, production and installation, project progress, steel consumption indicators, and the cost of steel structure space frame construction.

Node design is one of the important links in space frame design.

The node structure of the steel structure space frame should meet the following 4 points:

(1) The force is reasonable and the force transmission is clear. Make sure that the node structure is consistent with the calculation assumptions used to make the node safe and reliable;

(2) Ensure that the intersecting rods intersect at one point and no additional bending moment is generated;

(3) The structure is simple, the production is simple, and the installation is convenient;

         (4) Less steel consumption and low cost.
