The characteristics of space frame structure

 The space frame structure is a spatial structure composed of multiple poles connected by nodes in a certain grid form. Generally, it is a high-order statically indeterminate structure, which can bear concentrated load, dynamic and asymmetric load well, and has good seismic performance.

Widely used in stadiums, theaters, exhibition hall, waiting hall, stadium stands awning, aircraft hangar and other occasions.

The structure of the grid has the following characteristics:

Advantages

1. Large span - Span can be more than 100 meters;

2. Standardization - All components can be mass produced in the factory, easy to ensure the quality;

3. Due to the interaction between the structural members of the space grid, it has good integrity, large space stiffness and very stable structure;

4. Light dead weight - The structure of the grid depends on the axial force of the bar to transfer the load; the material strength is fully utilized, which not only saves the steel, but also reduces the dead weight. As a good network frame design, the amount of steel and the same conditions of the steel content of reinforced concrete structure is close, so you can save a lot of concrete, can reduce the dead weight 70-80%, compared with ordinary steel structure, while saving up to  20-50% of steel;

5. Good seismic performance. Due to the light weight of the grid structure, the seismic force generated during the earthquake is small.

6. Small height of grid structure - Space can be effectively used. The high-span ratio of ordinary steel structure is 1/8-1/10, while the high-span ratio of grid structure is only 1/14-1/20, which can reduce the height of the building.

7. Fast construction speed - The size and shape of the components of the grid structure are the same in a large number, which can be produced in batches in the factory, with good quality, high efficiency and no competition with civil construction for the site. Therefore, the site workload is small and the time limit is shortened.

8. Diversified and beautiful shapes - It can cover the plane of various shapes and can be designed into various shapes with beautiful and generous shapes.

Disadvantages

The number of rods delivered on the nodes is large, and the production and installation are more complex than the plane structure.
