The first domestic case of "compensation method" slippage construction of special-shaped sapce frame steel structure roof installation completed

With the completion of the positioning of the steel truss of the last unit, the large-span unequal-length trusses of the main roof of the Suzhou Bay Cultural Center Grand Theater have all slipped into place. It is the first case of "compensation method" sliding construction of the special-shaped sapce frame steel structure roof, which is the "finishing touch" of the Grand Theater.

The roof truss for the sliding construction has a total of 9 units, with a total weight of about 350 tons. The overall shape is "C", with a longest span of 41.3 meters and a duration of 48 hours.

The project adopts the domestic advanced sliding technology of large-scale sapce frame steel structure. Workers first set up a working platform on the south side of the Grand Theater, hoisted 260 large steel components to the platform, and welded and assembled them into 9 steel trusses. After connecting the auxiliary sliding device, the pulley is installed at the bottom of the truss, and it is slid to the designated installation position through the special track. The whole process does not require workers to work at heights.

In order to ensure the welding quality, the project mobilized 18 experienced welding masters to work in three shifts 24 hours a day. Symmetrical welding of full penetration primary welds is adopted to reduce welding deformation and ensure precise butt joints of slip trusses. "Such a new design is a great challenge to the construction of the sapce frame steel structure. For this reason, the project adopts the 'compensation method' construction, and develops the 'unequal-length truss slip construction auxiliary device', so that each truss can reach the same length. Design and install sliding rails on the east and west sides of the main structure of the Grand Theater to achieve parallel rail sliding." said the person in charge of the project's sapce frame steel structure.

If a truss with a height of 3.6 meters and a width of only 0.4 meters rolls over and overturns during sliding, the truss weighing about 4 tons may fall like a domino. In order to ensure the stability and safety of the sliding construction, the project team designed a special anti-overturning device, and adopted the construction plan of two-unit truss sliding together. The person in charge of the sapce frame steel structure technology of the project introduced, "Before construction, we used computer simulation technology to repeatedly analyze the entire construction process, and carried out animation simulations for the operators. Strictly control the space positioning, on-site hoisting, load stress release, etc. to ensure the safe and accurate sliding construction."

Suzhou Bay Cultural Center is located on the shore of the beautiful Taihu Lake. It is a brand-new and modern large-scale comprehensive cultural building. The overall design is in the shape of a "ribbon" symbolizing silk, with a total construction area of about 210,000 square meters. After its grand theater is completed, it can accommodate 1,600 people to watch the performance at the same time, enjoy a world-class audio-visual feast, and become a cultural pearl embellished in the center of the "ribbon".
