Which paint types are suitable for use on steel space frame structure in chemical plants?

Chemical plant steel structure paint requires corrosion resistance such as water resistance, moisture resistance, heat resistance, hot steam, and alkali resistance.

Chemical plant steel space frame structure paint types include: alkyd, epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic, acrylic polyurethane, silicone resin and fluorocarbon resin.

Chemical plant steel structure paint painting requirements:

1. Sandblasting and rust removal of steel structure parts that have been cut to Sa2.5 level.

2. The prefabricated parts after sandblasting shall be painted with epoxy iron red primer within 4 hours, with a thickness of ≥40µm.

3. The pre-welded parts of the prefabricated parts (both sides of the weld bead during welding) are pre-coated with weldable inorganic zinc-rich paint with a thickness of ≥25µm.

4. After the primer surface of the steel structure prefabricated parts is dry, apply the epoxy mica middle layer paint with a thickness of ≥60µm.

The following is a matching scheme for the steel structure paint of a chemical plant:

1. Ordinary painting series: alkyd anti-rust paint, alkyd enamel;

2. Indoor steel structure paint: epoxy primer, polyurethane topcoat;

3. Outdoor steel structure paint: epoxy zinc-rich primer, epoxy mica intermediate paint, 808 acrylic polyurethane topcoat, inorganic zinc-rich primer, epoxy mica intermediate paint, acrylic polyurethane topcoat;

4. Super weather-resistant outdoor steel structure paint: epoxy zinc-rich primer, epoxy mica intermediate paint, fluorocarbon topcoat, inorganic zinc-rich primer, epoxy mica intermediate paint, fluorocarbon topcoat, steel structure paint ;

5. Anti-corrosive paint for steel structure in hot and humid indoor environment: epoxy zinc-rich primer, epoxy mica intermediate paint, epoxy topcoat, epoxy primer, epoxy topcoat;

6. Acid and alkali resistant chemical industry steel structure anti-corrosive paint: high chlorinated polyethylene primer, high chlorinated polyethylene intermediate paint, high chlorinated polyethylene paint top coat;

7. Underground steel structure, buried steel structure pipeline paint: epoxy coal tar pitch primer, epoxy coal tar pitch intermediate paint, epoxy coal tar pitch paint;

8. Steel structure metal paint (requires steel structure paint with metallic effect, flashing effect, and imitation metal effect): epoxy primer, acrylic polyurethane metallic paint, epoxy zinc-rich primer, epoxy intermediate paint, fluorocarbon metal paint;

9. High temperature resistant steel structure paint (300℃-600℃): inorganic zinc-rich primer, organic silicon high temperature resistant primer, organic silicon high temperature resistant topcoat;

10. Low surface treatment steel structure paint (with micro-rust steel structure anti-corrosion coating): Hongdan alkyd anti-corrosive paint, alkyd enamel, epoxy red lead anti-corrosive paint, acrylic polyurethane topcoat, chlorinated rubber topcoat, Fluorocarbon top coat;

11. Solvent-resistant, acid-alkali-resistant steel structure paint: per-chloroethylene primer, per-chloroethylene secondary primer, per-chloroethylene topcoat;

12. Special paint for galvanized steel structure: epoxy zinc yellow primer, two-component topcoat of various colors, epoxy topcoat, polyurethane topcoat, acrylic topcoat, fluorocarbon topcoat, etc.;

13. Steel structure paint that has been coated with fireproof paint: epoxy intermediate paint (white), two-component top paint of various colors, chlorinated rubber paint;

Steel structure anti-corrosive paint types include: silver paint, alkyd paint, acrylic polyurethane topcoat, epoxy anti-corrosive paint, inorganic zinc-rich primer, fluorocarbon topcoat and polyurethane paint. A good anti-corrosion paint effect can improve the service life, anti-corrosion effect, and aesthetics of the steel structure. Of course, ordinary anti-corrosion and anti-corrosion functional paints, such as asphalt paint, nitrocellulose paint, alkyd paint, etc., can also be reasonably applied to the anti-corrosion coating of steel structures. The price is not expensive, and it can also meet the normal anti-corrosion needs. In order to achieve the ideal anti-corrosion effect, in addition to the choice of high-quality paint, the supporting and construction process must be optimized, and the steel can be comprehensively protected from multiple ways to prevent corrosion. Only then will it be recognized by customers and achieve the specified anti-corrosion objectives.
